Most swirl marks on most cars were put there by washing. A sponge, one bucket and a supermarket wash bay will mark paint faster than the road ever does. This is the regular clean that keeps a corrected or coated car in the condition you paid for.
Inside and out, every two to four weeks for most cars. It is deliberately not a deep clean — there is no clay bar and no machine work here, because a car in good condition does not need cutting back. It needs washing properly and often.
If you would rather do it yourself between visits, we have written down exactly how we wash a coated car. Nothing in it is a secret, and a car washed that way at home stays in better condition than one washed badly by us.
Ten steps, in this order.
The sequence matters more than the products. Everything below is arranged so that dirt is removed before anything touches the paint, and the car is dried before water has a chance to mark it.
Exterior

Snow foam pre-wash
Foam is left to dwell so the grit lifts off the paint chemically. Anything removed before a mitt touches the car is grit that cannot be dragged across it.

Wheels, barrels and arches
Faces, inner barrels and arches cleaned. Brake dust is hot metal that bonds to the finish, so leaving it between washes is how wheels get permanently marked.

Two-bucket contact wash
Wash bucket and rinse bucket, both with grit guards. The mitt is rinsed before it goes back into the shampoo, so what came off the car stays off it.

Microfibre towel dry
Dried by towel rather than left to air dry. Standing water leaves mineral deposits behind, and those etch if they sit in sun.

Door jambs wiped down
Shuts, sills and jambs cleaned. They are the first thing you see opening the door and the first place a wash normally misses.

Quick detailer finish
Removes water spotting and leaves a light layer of protection over whatever is already on the paint.

Tyre dressing
Applied to the sidewalls and levelled, so it does not sling onto the paint on the first roundabout.
Interior

Interior vacuum
Carpets, mats, seats and the seat rails underneath — the part that collects the most and gets reached the least.

Plastics and surfaces
Cleaned with a dedicated interior product and left matt. Dashboards that shine are dashboards that reflect in the windscreen.

Glass inside and out
Both sides of every window. Interior glass films over from plastics off-gassing, and that film is what scatters headlights at night.
Best value on a car that is already right.
If the paint has been corrected or coated, this is what protects that investment. If it has not, a Deep Clean first will give you a better starting point to maintain from.
